The Homogenized World

Globalization is defined to be, according to one definition “The increasing integration of economies and societies around the world, particularly through trade and financial flows, and the transfer of culture and technology”.

Although out the years, there have been both purposeful and accidental forces that have caused for the increasing integration of economies and societies as defined above.  There is no engine of globalization of accidental forces.  They are merely based on factors such as luck, chance and, for whose that believe in it, predestination.  Accidental forces include those which there is no motive, thus only a by produce of the main propose.  Some examples of this are influences on languages or dialects, music and dances.  Jazz is a perfect example of this.   Some other forces of globalizations in history can include things like the spread of some religions or the American “War on Terror”.

In the last few years there has been an undeniablehigh amount of Globalization as defined above.  In places like India where there has been heavy influence fromeconomical powers, India continues to be influenced on many different levels.  In Thomas Friedman’s The World is Flat, he speaks of his experience in India playing golf at the KGA golf club that right beside both HP and Texas Instruments new offices, two major American companies with tons more sprouting up here and there.

Personally I hear economists ranting and raving howthis is going to improve our way of live and the life of others and how we are going to be connected in new ways with new technologies but not a lot of people have written on the implications of Globalization.
How is Globalization affecting us as people? , In this paper I hope to cover this topic from the perspective of theindividuals and small groups with a strong focus oninteractions and how interactions have changed.  In my future graduation thesis I hope to explain in this on adeeper  level.

If we simplified commutation to two people living on two islands it would look like this.

We can see from that from the picture these two aren’t able to commutate because of physical barriers thus making them two groups that developed in two different worlds and developed different languages and cultures.

But these two groups had a method of commutation these groups would no longer be groups 1 and 2, they would be group 1+2.
Thus these two groups would become the same and develop together, share the same language and cultural thinking.
This new way of commutation I am speaking of is that oftelecommunication and the internet.  This method of the high speed net, LAN and e-mail has made the physicalbarriers of communication irrelevant, much like the picture above.  It has been said that Globalization can bring our worlds together like Canada and Japan but I believe it to go further than that.

In this next picture we see the amount of business, touristactives between these different cities in Canada and Japan.

We see that Tokyo and Vancouver are connected directly but we also see that Sidney and Mimi are connected too.  Like picture 1, these places are separated physically but like picture 2, there communication isn’t limited.  Connected my business, tourism and other activities, these places share their cultures and views of the worldbecoming more and more mean while at the same time, places that are physically close have less communication. The difference grows and grows till places like Tokyo and Mimi although only 500km away from each other are very different where as Mimi and Sidney are over 7000km but have more in common

I hope to continue to write more in my final report.
